How They Got Engaged
As many of you know, Bill is a HUGE Knicks fan and Rebecca is a fan of people watching. Bill has his season tickets with his friend Ryan, attending most games together or inviting guests. It was Rebecca's turn to go to a game. Despite the season, Bill was excited for the game versus the Nets on April 16, 2007. It was fan appreciation night in addition to the Knicks' last home game. Bill was pumped.
He encouraged Rebecca to pull out and wear all her Knicks gear, including a hat she had to dig out of the closet since her hats had not been unpacked since she moved in with Bill. Bill put on his gear and together they went off to the game. Oh, it must be mentioned that before Rebecca and Bill left for the game, Bill told Rebecca that he was not feeling well and his stomach was upset. Rebecca let Bill know that they did not have to go the game if he did not feel well. Bill insisted that they go. Off they went.
Many events took place at the game, including Rebecca asking Bill to try to e-mail a message through a Verizon ad, with the message appearing on the Jumbotron. Of course, Bill had his phone and appeared to send a text. Then Rebecca missed a thrown T-shirt only to have a lovely woman five minutes later bring Rebecca and Bill a nice goody bag with our own T-shirt and baseball cap. Rebecca was unsure of how they received such nice gifts and Bill let her know that it was fan appreciation night and perhaps we had been pre-selected or won a raffle. Rebecca inquired as to how the woman knew her name and Bill let her know that he had given them her name in case she ever needed to pick up tickets all she would need to do is show them her license. The woman also reminded them to watch the Jumbotron and to enjoy the show.
So, it is now transitioning into half time and to Rebecca's disbelief up on the Jumbotron is the text message that Bill typed earlier in the game, it says Rebecca Hoffman I love you. Rebecca was so excited that his text made it up there she leaned in to give her love a kiss. Bill quickly resisted the kiss and pointed Rebecca's head back in the direction of the Jumbotron. Rebecca read the next message that came on and it said "Will You Marry Me?...Bill, section 424". Rebecca had to read it twice and very slowly until she realized what had just happened. In that time frame in front of Jay-Z, Beyonce and Tyra Banks, Bill got down on his knee and proposed to Rebecca using his grandmother Bess's ring. Rebecca was in Shock, shaking and EXCITED. According to Bill, he had to ask three times before of course Rebecca said that infamous word, YES!!!!!!!
