Atlanta Botanical Gardens Piedmont Avenue between Monroe Drive and 14th Street 404-876-5859 30 acres of landscaped gardens, hardwood forest with walking trails and the Dorothy Chapman Fuqua Conservatory, home to rare and endangered tropical and desert plants. Atlanta Brewing Company 1219 Williams Street 404-892-4436 Atlanta Brewing Company is Atlanta's oldest microbrewery, producing world-class beers such as Red Brick Ale, which won a silver medal in the 1996 World Beer Cup. Tours and tastings every Thursday and Friday at 5:30 pm and Saturday at 3 pm. $2 donation gets you a 20 minute brewery tour, 20 minute tasting and a commemorative glass.

Through spectacular music, art and sound effects, history comes alive as you step back to July 1864 and become part of the Battle of Atlanta. The museum has many Civil War displays, the locomotive "Texas" and an outstanding bookstore.

Also learn about African-American history, the Civil War, Gone with the Wind, and more. Callaway Gardens US Highway 27, Pine Mountain 800-CALLAWAY Horticultural display gardens, natural woodlands, bicycle and walking trails, championship golf, tennis, fly fishing, beach, seven restaurants and choice accommodations. Features Day Butterfly Center, the largest glass enclosed tropical butterfly conservatory in North America. Open daily, rates and times vary.
Carter Presidential Center One Copenhill 404-331-0296 Museum features interactive exhibits on Carter Administration. Also home to the nonprofit Carter Center, with programs to promote peace, advance democracy and improve health in the developing world. Open Mon-Sat 9am-4:45 pm; Sun noon-4:45 pm
Centennial Olympic Park Downtown Atlanta 404-222-PARK The central point of the 1996 Summer Olympics, this park and its fountains were financed in large part by the sale of the commemorative bricks which now line it's walkways (to locate a brick see the computers at the kiosk in the Visitors Center). While there be sure to visit the Centennial and Bi-Centennial Trees; the Quilt Plaza; Water Gardens and the Belvedere. The park now hosts concerts, art shows, and children's activities all year long. Chateau Elan Winery and Resort 100 Tour de France, Braselton 770-932-0900 (off I-85 North, exit 48) a 16th Century-style French Chateau is the focal point of this 3,100 acre complex with vineyards, winery, three championship golf courses and a par 3 walking course, inn and conference center, authentic Irish pub, European-style health spa, tennis center and equestrian show center. Visitors center houses an art gallery, bistro restaurant, wine market and formal dining room. Winery tours with tasting from 10 am daily.
Chattahoochee Nature Center 9135 Willeo Road 770-992-2055 A variety of attractions and programs make the Nature Center a popular destination for visitors year round. In addition to Nature trails, marsh boardwalk and indoor exhibits, the Nature Center features the Wildlife Rehabilitation Clinic, the Adopt-a-Species program and a variety of educational programs. Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Visitors Center and Monetary Museum 1000 Peachtree Street 404-498-8500 Take a self guided tour of the monetary museum located in the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Exhibits cover the history of money and the Federal Reserve’s role in the economy. Fox Theatre 660 Peachtree Street 404-881-2100 A 1929 restored movie palace and National Historic Monument, the Fox hosts a variety of events year round, including Broadway shows, concerts, symphony and dance performances. The building is open for tours on M, W, and Thur at 11 am, Sat at 10 am and 11am.

Georgia Aquarium 225 Baker Street 404-581-4000 Reservations MUST be acquired in advance and are done via the website …. www.georgiaaquarium.org The World’s largest aquarium is home to more than 100,000 fish and animals –rare whale sharks, Beluga whales, California Sea Lions, sea otters, penguins, jellyfish and more. Georgia Dome One Georgia Dome Drive tour information 404-223-TOUR The world's largest cable supported dome offers hosted tours open to the piblic. Come see the site of the 1994 Super Bowl. Georgia Music Hall of Fame 200 Martin Luther King Boulevard, Macon, Ga 912-750-8555 If you're looking for an entertaining day trip it's all here at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame. One hour south of Atlanta on I-75. This 43,000 sq. ft. celebrates the lives and music of great Georgia musicians like Otis Redding, Little Richard, Alan Jackson and Ray Charles. Georgia State Capital Building Capital Hill at Washington Street 404-656-2844 Native gold tops the dome of Georgia's capital, an 1889 building that houses a natural science display, a Hall of Flags and a Hall of Fame honoring outstanding Georgians. Open Mon-Fri 8am-5pm. closed weekends.
Hammonds House Galleries 503 Peoples St. SW 404-752-8730 Georgia's only museum dedicated to fine arts by African-Americans. Includes a suite of works by Romare Bearden, a collection of Haitian Art, "derogatory memorabilia'" and works by more than 200 significant black artists. Open Tu-F 10 am-6 pm, Sat-Sun 1 - 5pm
Historic Oakland Cemetary 248 Oakland Avenue SE 404--688-2107 The first cemetery in the Atlanta area, founded in 1850. More than 3,000 Confederate soldiers are buried in Oakland's 88 acres along with many prominent figures such as Margaret Mitchell, Reverend Gaines and Bobby Jones. Self-guided tours are free, gates are open 8am-6pm maps available in visitor's center. Guided tours take place March-October Sat 10 am and 2 pm; Sun 2pm weekdays by appointments.

Ivan Allen Jr Braves Museum and Hall of Fame Turner Field on the Northwest side of the ballpark's entry plaza. One of only three museums in the U.S. dedicated to tracing the history of a single baseball team, the Ivan Allen Jr. Braves Museum and Hall of Fame is an education and entertainment venue which follows Braves' history. Focusing on significant events and showcasing over 200 team artifacts. Museum and Turner Field tours available. Open game days 3 hours prior to the game until 5:30 pm.
Kennesaw Mountain National Battelfield Stilesboro Road 770-427-4686 Administered by the National Park Service, Kennesaw Battlefield features 16.2 miles of hiking trails, with historic markings including Cheatham Hill, the site of the main attack of the 1864 campaign. In addition, visitors enjoy picnic areas, a visitor's center and a laser disc video and exhibit area. Hours vary.

Margaret Mitchell House Corner of 10th and Peachtree Streets 404-249-7012 Tour this historic turn-of-the-century house where Margaret Mitchell, author of the best selling novel of all time, Gone With the Wind, lived and wrote her classic novel. The house, through exclusive photographs and archival exhibits, reveals the untold stories of this fascinating woman, her book and the movie--set against the historical landscape of Atlanta. Martin Luther King, Jr. Center National Historic Site 450 Auburn Avenue 404-331-6922 The two block national historic site contains the restored Queen Anne style birthplace of Martin Luther King, Jr. And other historic restored residential homes; the King Center, which includes exhibits and Dr. King's crypt; Ebenezer Baptist Church; and the Sweet Auburn Commercial District. 9am-5pm. Michael C. Carlos Museum, Emory University 571 South Kilgo Street 404-727-4282 Houses a collection of some 16,000 objects including art from Greece, Rome, Eqypt, the Near East, Africa, Asia and the Americas, as well as prints and drawings from the Middle Ages to the 20th Century.
